The Senior Vice President is expected to manage all aspects of investigative research, including desktop research, lead interviews and field investigation. The Senior Vice President is expected to maintain the highest level of integrity in conducting this research. The role requires a self-starting, independent, motivated personality, excited to assist clients resolve and understand complex local and international issues, and work on some of the most interesting cases in our industry.  The team in Australia is a newly-established, fast growing and high-performance group – and seeks highly motivated, socially and commercially astute, experienced consultants to help it grow further.

As a Senior Vice President, you will manage multiple cases at any given time, and be responsible for delivery of overall financial and client objectives. You will be expected to identify new business opportunities and be actively involved in the development of marketing and probono initiatives. 

Responsibilities will also include negotiating and reviewing project contracts, drafting and reviewing proposals, managing pipeline, supporting client executives in closing deals, speaking as content expert, and drafting thought leadership which will positively reflect upon Kroll and the business.

You will be responsible for developing, producing, and supporting the investigative case work, dealing with clients and managing complex jurisdictional assignments. Additionally, this role will be responsible for contributing to the on-going development and growth of your assigned office.

A deep understanding of the case and client needs is key to ensuring overall effective and financially viable case management.

  • Act as local (Australian) expert in matters of intelligence support, asset searches, investigative due diligence, investigative litigation support, fraud investigations, anti-bribery and corruption issues, anti-money-laundering and financial crime compliance support, other relevant matters
  • Work closely with global Kroll FII teams, as well as cyber risk and cyber forensics teams to deliver class-leading multi-team, multijurisdictional investigations for global clients
  • Assist to develop novel, Australia and Oceania-specific investigative research methodologies and approaches, especially as pertains to open source research and human source research.
  • Assist to develop and maintain local network of experts, researchers and industry sources.
  • Develop and manage projects, throughout the life and the engagement: meeting with client to discuss needs, preparation of commercial and technical proposal, agreement of engagement, development of working plan and budget, allocation of resources, direction of project team members, delivery and quality assurance and project invoicing
  • Provide expert, reliable and robust analysis of complex situations and data for clients
  • Act as client contact throughout projects and contribute to management of the client relationship
  • Active involvement in the pursuit of new business and support the delivery of proposals by senior members of the team
  • Ensure senior members of the Practice remain up-to-date with the progress of investigations, bringing up issues and findings to the attention of appropriate personnel for resolution and decision making
  • Monitors quality of own work product and the work of junior employees, providing guidance and assistance where necessary
  • Achieves Personal Billable Hours and Personal Development targets
  • Addresses field investigation and related problems as they arise
  • Exercise good judgment, demonstrate innovation and adapt working strategy based on results obtained
  • Takes ownership of project and deliverables and manage workflow and costs effectively
  • Ensure ethical conduct, quality of services, use of best practices and compliance with policy and SOPs in each project
  • Identify project risks and effectively manage them
  • Contribute to the professional development and evaluation of junior project team members
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment, be commercially-focused and be driven by professional excellence and a commitment to the Kroll brand


  • 7+ years of relevant work experience including expertise in the areas of investigations, journalism, intelligence, business/financial research, editing
  • Extensive international working experience (as a resident, not a traveler) strongly preferred
  • Residence in Sydney strongly preferred, other cities considered
  • CFE, and locally-licensed PI certifications preferred but not required
  • Client-facing and business development experienced preferred
  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to grasp client needs and to analyze large data sets in order to deliver readily understandable executive reports and presentations
  • Strong team, project and client management experience, along with strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in a broad variety of investigative methods
  • Proficient in MS Office. Ideally also proficient in investigative analysis tools  
  • Strong academic background, preferably in the fields of Finance, Journalism, Engineering, International Relations, International Business and Political Science, Law or Security Studies
