The Associate Manager within the Compliance Risk & Diligence practice, is a position that will manage client accounts, projects, and complex research assignments from start to finish. The position also requires conducting quality reviews on reports to ensure that the products produced by the research teams are accurate, complete and meet our clients’ needs. In addition, the Associate Manager will support the onboarding and training of new research team hires, to include reviewing test cases and providing detailed, actionable feedback to trainees.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Serve as the project manager on large, strategic accounts, overseeing the lifecycle of reports from client request to delivery.
- Work with the client manager to develop and execute strategic account plans in order to expand the overall relationship.
- Manage and maintain client relationships and meet client needs in a timely and satisfactory way.
- Train, mentor and develop new researchers, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing actionable feedback on their development checkpoints.
- Manage multiple assignments from start to finish, conducting in-depth research in Russian-, and English-language sources using extensive Internet, database, and media research techniques. Analyze research findings, synthesize relevant information, and draft high-quality, objective reports.
- Effectively manage resources including subcontractors, ensuring protocols are followed and costs are monitored and accounted for accurately.
- Understand and comply with UK, European & US regulations relating to confidentiality and data protection.
Essential Traits:
- Professional knowledge of economic, political, or related fields relating to Russia, Eastern Europe, and/or Central Asia is required
- Extremely strong English-language writing skills are required
- 1-2 years of experience training or mentoring new hires
- Advanced capability or fluency in reading comprehension in the Russian languages is required
- 3-5 years of experience (including relevant internships) of researching and writing due diligence reports in English
- 1-2 years of experience managing client relationships is required
- Undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited university majoring in: International Relations/Affairs, Regional Studies, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Law or other related areas of study required
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to quickly and effectively summarize information from multiple sources into concise analytical assessments
- Ability to accept and apply constructive feedback
- Customer-service orientation with a dedication to quality
- Availability to work a full-time schedule with the understanding that additional hours and weekend work may be required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills that help represent diverse communities
- Experience working with diverse teams
