We are currently seeking a creative, results-driven Thought Leadership Specialist to join our Financial Advisory team. As Kroll’s Thought Leadership Specialist, you will own the business beat within Kroll, working closely with internal sources to develop content designed to amplify Kroll’s strategy and capabilities internationally across global and regional media. This is a great opportunity to write an array of different pieces, from OpEds to client alerts and academic white papers. Along the way, you will apply your knowledge of corporate finance and valuation while developing great contacts within media and business. The prospective candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years of business writing experience in B2B and/or the professional services sector. The position will be based in New York City or Chicago.

This position will be hybrid to any of the following locations, New York, Morristown or Chicago. If you are in New Jersey, it will be one day a week in our New York office located at the World Trade Center and the other days will be in our Morristown location.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Research, write, synthesize, edit, and publish thought leadership content, including white papers, client alerts, social posts and OpEd articles, for global and regional audiences
  • Manage day-to-day flow of copy for busy global content operation expanding on key themes related to valuation, investment banking, fairness & solvency opinions and transaction advisory services
  • Work closely with Kroll practice leads to develop new story ideas for publication
  • Leverage Kroll’s proprietary tools and products to research trends and develop data-driven thought leadership
  • Monitor financial industry trends and news and suggest thought leadership that elevates client conversations
  • Develop targeted messaging across key platforms for audiences at various stages of the client journey
  • Provide writing and editing expertise to Kroll industry reports, as needed
  • Assist in creating and posting to social media
  • Lead management of editorial services calendar
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional team environment to ensure proper comprehensive external and internal marketing material updates
  • Enforce the Kroll communications guidelines across all marketing and communication materials
  • Work autonomously, as well as within teams, depending on the project

Essential traits:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of journalism, B2B writing or communications experience
  • Experience in highly regulated industry a plus
  • Superb written, copy editing and oral communication skills
  • Strong data visualization, presentation, analytics, and other general digital skills (PowerPoint, Tableau, Adobe, Microsoft suite, Google Suite, Salesforce marketing cloud/social studio, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of the rules governing the grammar and usage of the English language as well as a familiarity with standard reference texts, familiarity with AP style is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Time management and prioritization skills, ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a team player capable of collaborating across a global organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or journalism or writing preferred
  • Knowledge of how to use productivity tools including Monday.com is a plus
  • Strong sense of humor is welcome

The current salary range for this position is $50,000 to $90,000
