We are looking for a Manager to join our Commercial Disputes Expert Services team in Amsterdam. In this role you’ll work closely with lawyers to assist in the resolution of disputes, and, where appropriate, working closely with teams within the firm providing specialist advice to companies. This means a wide and varied exposure for you to be able to develop and gain further skills in areas such as complex corporate and commercial litigations, including valuation and quantum disputes, post M&A disputes, insolvency and director liability investigations and contentious restructuring cases..

Day-to-day responsibilities:

As a Manager you will gain unparalleled exposure to significant, high-profile projects relating to disputes and investigation matters, often working closely with colleagues in different business units or jurisdictions. Your work will cover all stages of disputes, including:

  • Providing advice in the initial stages of a dispute and assisting to scope the work required

  • Providing valuation, quantum and accounting advice and other financial analysis to lawyers in order to help progress cases

  • Project managing cases

  • Assisting with the drafting of expert reports

  • Assisting directors or managing directors during a court or tribunal hearing

  • Building client relationships, identifying and sourcing new work, and new product development

Essential traits:

  • Strong academic track record and preferably qualified as RA (chartered accountant) or equivalent level

  • At least two years’ experience working on disputes related matters

  • Experience of financial modelling and drafting sections of expert reports

  • Strong numeracy skills with the ability to process and analyse large volumes of data

  • The ability to explain complex, technical issues in an understandable manner

  • Excellent communication skills with clients and colleagues

  • A logical and methodical approach to problem solving, as well as being able to develop innovative solutions to complex problems

  • Critical thinker with excellent attention to detail

  • Comfortable working both independently and in a team

  • Ability to simultaneously handle diverse and pressing assignments and sensitive and adversarial situations

  • Commercial awareness and general business understanding

  • Fluent in Dutch and English

  • Excellent report writing skills

  • Competent in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • The ability to establish effective working relationships with a strong client focus
