The Senior Cloud / Systems Engineer will be responsible for continuing to build and maintain the organizations cloud based platforms. The engineer will ensure efficient implementation of technologies to meet business and market requirements while maintaining a strong focus and adherence to security policies. The engineer will work closely with the solutions architects and will be assigned to work with one or more development project teams. Day-to-day responsibilities:
The System Engineer will be responsible for building, supporting, and managing end-to-end solutions within Amazon AWS and Azure Cloud environments with a strong focus on system and data security.
The Systems Engineer will be responsible for automating and deploying cloud infrastructure such as VPCs, Security Groups, EC2s, RDS instances, ECS clusters, AWS Load Balancers, API Gateway etc. in support of approved initiatives.
Support SCRUM teams in an Agile development environment.
Working with the Solutions Architect, Development Architect and third parties as appropriate, the engineer will be responsible for ensuring that a technical design document describing the technical architecture for the program/project is produced.
Understand the business and application requirements and translate into an Infrastructure solution.
Ensure that all technology selected for the program conforms to the organization’s technical long-term strategy.
Become a central point of understanding of the end-to-end technical architecture for the solution concerned.
Build IT Infrastructure solutions based on requirements making use of new and existing IT capabilities and services.
Support and build cloud compute, network & storage systems demonstrating an understanding of fundamental technologies.
Provide after-hours support as required to address system outages and perform system updates/upgrades/modifications.
Identify new processes or modify existing processes to improve efficiencies in the support and monitoring of the department’s production applications.
Perform other duties as required.
Essential traits:
6 or more years of related experience building, maintaining and monitoring cloud environments, proprietary applications, Windows & Linux platforms, Kubernetes and other container technologies.
B.S. Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred.
AWS & Azure certifications are preferred, with hands-technical experience.
5+ years experience in the following Technology Areas:
Cloud native technologies, PaaS & SaaS solutions within AWS & Azure
Automation technologies (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager)
A broad understanding of enterprise-class technologies and a holistic view of IT infrastructure.
Strong expertise with AWS Aurora and Oracle Databases.
Extensive knowledge and experience with large scale client facing online systems.
Extensive knowledge and experience with Amazon AWS, Windows and Linux based technologies
Experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform.
Experience with IMB QualityStage an asset.
Experience integrating with the development teams to understand the application landscape and their interface to different systems in the IT landscape.
Ability to interface with Applications Team to understand the application landscape and their interface to different systems in the IT landscape.
Ability to work and adapt in a dynamic environment and recognize priority issues, escalating accordingly
Strong verbal/written communication skills, experience with creating standards and documentation.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a project group, with time constraints.
Strong customer service oriented; organizational and communication skills, positive and can-do attitude
A broad understanding of enterprise-class technologies.

Salary range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000 USD
